JUNIOR GOLF

 

Die Boland U19 span is tans op baie goeie vorm en kom vandag, 15 Desember, in hul eerste wedstryde van die toernooi te staan teen WP & KZN. Die spangees is goed en die manne is lus vir speel.

Suid Kaap het hulle toernooi gister goed begin deur Ekurhuleni en KZN oortuigend te wen en tans bo aan die punteleer te staan.

DATABASIS VAN SPELERS - BAIE BELANGRIK

Graag versoek ons Boland spelers in die Ope, Mid Am, Senior en Super Senior Afdelings om asseblief julle name, epos adresse en selnommers te mail na Elaine office@bolandgolf.co.za. Ons is besig om ons kontak lyste op te dateer vir 2016 en dit sal ons baie help om die korrekte spelers per groeping te bereik wanneer ons inligting moet uitstuur.

JUNIOR SPELERS wat hierdie jaar matriek skryf moet asb vir Mariette admin@bolandgolf.co.za laat weet, sodat ons julle inligting kan oorskuif na die Ope OOM en daardie kontaklys.

I'd like to thank Boland Golf Union for the help, support and privileges you have bestowed upon me throughout the years.

I am proud to announce that I have secured my 2016 Sunshine Tour Card and give thanks to Boland Golf Union, the Committee and the members.

I am the first one to admit that this is only a small step towards my dream as a professional golfer and nothing is guaranteed, but so many people helped me in achieving the first step of my dream, that I want to thank you for what you have done.

As the game is getting more and more scientific, players are fighting the ever-constant battle to try to keep up. Getting your equipment checked can be an expensive thing but there are small things you can get checked to see if the clubs you are using are correct.

We sometimes forget how important the lie angle of the club is. If your lie is not setup correctly at setup position, you can make the best swing possible and the ball will not go straight.

Let me explain the lie angle of the club: it is how the club sits on the ground at address. We want the toe of the club to be slightly off the ground sitting up, and you should be able to fit a 50 cent coin under the toe of the club on address. The reason for this is how the shaft reacts during the golf swing. On the downswing your shaft bends, but not in the way many of us think, it actually presses the toe of the club down. So if your club is flat on the ground at address, your toe of the club will hit the ground first at impact, due to the way the shaft bends and will cause the clubface to open at impact and the ball will go right of target. So in this case your club lie angle is too flat for you and then vice versa is also true. When the toe is too far off the ground at address the heel of the club will hit the ground first at impact causing the clubface to close and the ball will go left of target.

This may sound very technical but it is an easy thing to get tested. You can have the best golf swing in the world but if your clubs lie angles are not setup correctly for you, it will not go straight.
